21+3 side bet
Scott, Good to hear from you. There is a good reason for it. When using a side bet in conjunction with either blackjack or baccarat there is a chance that someone will figure out how to take advantage of deck depletion, and develop a system (similar to card counting) to determine when the remaining cards in the shoe are in the favor of the player who makes who bets the side bet. By leaving the maximum wager at $50, there is no reasonable way to take advantage of the side wager. I tell a lot of casino executives not to raise the limit on their side bet because they might open "Pandora's Box". I hope that answers your question. Cheers.

21+ 3 side bet
Bill, Quick question. Maybe you can help resolve a question that myself and my fellow Table Game Managers have been unable to answer. We recently put 21+3 on the floor here at the Resort. The procedures we were given say that the Three Card Poker Bonus wager may not exceed the Blackjack wager made by the player. Why would the procedures be set like that? The house advantage on the side bet is clearly higher that the regular Blackjack bet is. Shouldn’t we want the guest to make a wager such as $10 on Blackjack and $50 on the side bet? To give you all the information, the table limits are $5 - $1000 and the side bets are $5 - $50 and a player can play up to three hands. Please enlighten us.
