Michael Kaplan is a journalist based in New York City. He has written for publications that include the New York Times Magazine, Wired, and GQ. Michael is a senior features writer with the New York Post and writes the gambling column for Cigar Aficionado. His article “The Baccarat Machine” on  Cheung Yin “Kelly” Sun is being developed for a feature film with the actress Awkwafina attached to play Kelly.

Michael is the author of four books and has interviewed the gambling world’s top advantage players and poker pros. His fifth book, The Advantage Players, Inside the winning worlds of advantage players, artistic conmen, and mathematical wizards will be published in early 2025.  “Michael Kaplan is the GOAT of gambling writers,” according to Nathaniel Tilton, author of The Blackjack Life.
